What did Apple announce in the September event? Apple Watch 6 and SE, iPad Air and Apple One

Apple announced some exciting products in the company’s virtual event. We got an Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE, redesigned iPad Air with the A14 Bionic chip, and 8th generation iPad. The updated versions of the operating systems – iPad OS 14, iOS 14, Watch OS 7, and TV OS 14 – are all coming from September 16.

The company typically announces a new iPhone at its September event, but this time it’s pushed for a few weeks later. We may expect new iPhones in October event.

The Apple Watch Series 6 features a new health sensor that welcomes blood oxygen monitoring to the smartwatch. The measurement can be taken in just 15 seconds. And it records background measurements as well, so you’ll get measurements taken while you sleep. You’ll know it’s taking a reading when you see the red lights coming from the back of the device.

The Apple Watch Series 6 comes in new colors and finishes, including PRODUCT (RED). It also features a Solo Loop watch band with one continuous piece. New Apple Watch Series 6 features a 2.5x brighter always-on display.

Apple also announced new services for the device that are focused on health and family – called Fitness Plus, which offers a variety of weekly workout routines for $9.99 a month. Yoga, cycling, dance, treadmill walk and run, strength training, core training, HITT, rowing, and mindful cool downs are all covered in Fitness plus.

The company also said its Apple Watch will have a feature called Family Setup, allowing parents to set up their children’s watch to help track their kids’ location and control who they talk to using iMessage. The feature requires a cellular version of the Apple Watch, but it doesn’t require a child to have an iPhone.

Apple watch series 6 is the most advanced Apple Watch yet, with a blood oxygen sensor and app, the ECG app, Always-on altimeter, the Always-On Retina display etc. and it will have the price starting at $399.

Apple also unveiled a lower cost Apple Watch SE, for $279 and with watch SE, Apple is looking to appeal to a new audience of smartwatch wearers – including children. Watch SE Features the same larger display size as Series 6, fall detection, a compass, and an always-on altimeter. It does not have ECG monitor, but it still has a number of fitness tracking capabilities – Those include the same accelerometer, gyroscope, and always-on altimeter as the new Apple Watch Series 6.

During the event Apple also unveiled colorful iPad Airs, and 8th gen iPad.

Newest iPad Air includes an all-screen design, a new processor and Touch ID on the top button. The new display measures in at 10.9 inches, with 2360×1640 resolution, full lamination, True Tone, and an anti-glare coating. And, Touch ID has been shifted from the standard Home button. It’s now present in the top button, integrated into the button. It’s the smallest version of Touch ID to date, but it’s still just as fast as the previous generation. It relies on a sapphire crystal lens, which can more accurately capture a fingerprint. It comes in a variety of colors – Sky blue, green, rose gold, silver, and space gray.

The device will switch over to a USB-C connection from Apple’s own Lightning port, a move Apple has already done with its iPad Pro and laptop line. The processor is upgraded to the new A14 Bionic chip, from the A12 Bionic, which was first introduced in 2018. Apple pitched the new processor as powerful enough to handle tasks like editing 4K video and playing graphics-intensive games. It has cameras on the front and back. A 7MP on the front, with improved 1080p capture, and HDR support. Meanwhile, on the back there is a 12MP camera. It will be available starting at $599.

The new eighth generation entry-level iPad starts at $329 and is $299 for education customers. The 10.2-inch device, offers the same display size as before. It gets the A12 Bionic, a boost from the 4-year-old A10 Fusion in the prior model.

Apple also announced the upcoming arrival of a new services bundle dubbed Apple One. There are three tiers to choose from, and prices start at just $14.95 per month. Individual includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage for $14.95 per month. Family includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 200GB of iCloud storage for $19.95 per month, and can be shared among up to six family members. Premier includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and 2TB of iCloud storage for $29.95 per month, and can be shared among up to six family members.
