A short video-sharing social app TikTok announced it’s rolling out new commenting features to control bullying and harassment on its platform. The app is developing comment filtering tools to give users the ability to approve all new comments before they can appear under the clips. As per the upcoming change, new comments will be hidden until the account owner approves them.
TikTok is also implementing a feature to proactively stop bullying before it happens. When the system detects that a particular comment may break its rules, the app will prompt the users to “reconsider” it before posting.
TikTok says the goal with the new features is to maintain a supportive, positive environment where people can focus on being creative and finding community.
The content creators who choose to enable the new “Filter All Comments” feature will need to go through each comment individually to approve them using a comment management tool. So comments won’t even go live unless the creator approves them giving full control to the creators.
