Sony has just announced the decision to postpone its PS5 gameplay reveal due to ongoing protests, the event was originally scheduled for Thursday, June 4.
“While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is the time for celebration, and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard,” the company tweeted from PlayStation twitter account.
Sony’s decision came due to a week of anger, unrest, and protest over the killing of Gorge Floyd, the man who was killed due to the brutality of Minneapolis police on May 25. Since death, thousands of protestors have taken to the streets of major cities in the United States as well as around the world.
Sony Entertainment also tweeted in support of black people, “We denounce system racism and violence against the Black community. We will continue to work toward a future marked by empathy and inclusion and stand with our Black creators, players, employees, families, and friends. #BlackLivesMatter”
Rescheduled date and time for the event has not been announced yet.
