Huawei has released the Huawei Watch 3, the company’s first wearable to operate on the company’s Harmony OS. The Active with a rubber strap, Classic with leather strap, and Elite with metal link bracelet is the available variants. The Huawei Watch 3 Pro has a titanium and ceramic casing and sapphire glass.
The Watch 3 has a magnificent 1.43-inch AMOLED screen with a 1000 nit brightness. The panel boasts a resolution of 466 x 466 and a pixel density of 326ppi, making it one of the best panels available. It is compatible with both iOS and Android, however like with past Huawei handsets, Android users will have access to more functionality such as music and calling.
A rotating crown at 2 o’clock controls on-watch menus and functions, as well as a secondary button. This means it may be used while wearing gloves, which is useful for folks who find tiny touchscreens difficult to use. The Huawei Watch 3 also has LTE connectivity and a plethora of sports and health functions. Watch 3 offers eSim support to LTE functionality and you can get access to Huawei’s Celia smart voice assistant.
There is a temperature sensor onboard, as well as the Huawei TruSeen 4.5 heart rate monitor, which also has SpO2 capabilities. It also features GPS – and if you get the Watch 3 Pro model, it includes two-channel GPS, which greatly improves accuracy.
Running, cycling, and HIIT are among the 17 “professional” sport monitoring modes that provide additional data. There are also 85 conventional exercise profiles that only provide standard heart rate and calorie burn data. It also has automatic workout recognition, which activates when it detects walking, jogging, elliptical, or rowing activity.
In addition to stress and heart rate monitoring, tiredness levels are also tracked. That recuperation state was prompted by a morning run, so it’s amazing to see so many aspects functioning together.
According to Huawei, the Watch 3 has a three-day battery life with a 4G connection, and an always-on screen. That is certainly a significant drop down from the Watch GT2 series, which has closer to two weeks battery life. There is, however, a battery conservation option that will let you to go 14 days without charging while still providing 24/7 heart rate tracking, sleep monitoring, and access to 14 athletic modes.
Major part of the update from GT2 to watch 3 is Harmony OS replacing the Lite OS of Watch GT2. The style and feel of the OS are basically the same.
There’s a grid-style, Apple-like app launcher instead of the menu but you may feel difficulties recognizing the apps. This grid-like menu expands as you install new applications from the Huawei App Gallery which is considered one of the biggest advantages of Harmony OS.
The Huawei Watch 3 will be available in the United Kingdom and Europe on June 18th and there is no official announcement on US availability. The base versions of Watch 3 will cost £349.99, which is almost $500. The titanium Watch 3 Pro will cost £499 which is about $700.
