Few days after releasing the teaser, DJI announced the fabulous FPV Drone today with the price tag of USD $1299. The DJI FPV drone offers an amazing first-version view and mind-blowing performance. The DJI FPV features a nice design, sci-fi-style goggles, and a streamlined remote. DJI also introduced an optional game-style controller that uses hand movement and position rather than sticks.
The camera is integrated on a single axis gimbal to provide stability during complex maneuvers while rotating the drone vertically. The FPV shares the same 1/2.3-inch image sensor as the Mini 2. The integrated camera can provide 4K video footage at up to 60fps. Along with such quality, this drone uses RockSteady electronic image stabilization to ensure stable, cinematic quality videos. Slow-motion videos can also be recorded in 1080p at 120fps. Recorded videos follow H.265 or H.264 compression standards.
DJI FPV drone is the first of its kind from the drone giant DJI. DJI FPV incorporates DJI’s goggles, a dedicated remote controller, and motion control. FPV drones are comparatively hard to navigate but this first integrated FPV drone allows pilots of all abilities the choice to select various flight modes based on their skill level.
The operation of this FPV drone on Normal (N) mode is similar to other non-FPV DJI Drones. The drone hovers the place with GPS or visual positioning system(VPS). So, N mode is considered the easiest flight mode suitable for novice FPV pilots. In N mode, obstacle detection sensors residing on the front of the drone can be activated to warn when obstacles are near, pilots can then move the drone away from the obstacles.
Another flying mode is M or Manual mode that is suitable for experienced users. Sensors and hovering features will be deactivated during with mode.
The third mode is Sport (S) Mode. It is the hybrid of N and M modes allowing pilots to use dynamic movement capabilities of M mode as well as safety features of N mode.
The DJI FPV can fly at speeds up to 140kph, with acceleration to 100kph in just 2 seconds. It also offers a 10 km transmission range, auto-switching dual-frequencies, a high bitrate of 50Mpbs, and anti-interference technology.
